McLaren driver Lando Norris claimed the second pole position of his career on Saturday, emerging victorious in an epic battle with World Champion Max Verstappen.

Norris outpaced Verstappen in the final lap with a time of 1m 11.383s. Mercedes followed closely, with Lewis Hamilton securing an impressive P3 at the Spanish Grand Prix.

In preparation for Sunday’s race, a competitive qualifying session unfolded in front of thousands of fans. Beyond the head-to-head between Norris and Verstappen, the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell captivated the audience with their thrilling performances.

Hamilton managed to outpace his teammate, George Russell, while Charles Leclerc of Ferrari secured a starting position at P5.

The tight session saw the Ferrari duo of Leclerc and home favorite Carlos Sainz battling it out on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Pierre Gasly, driving for Alpine, trailed behind and settled for seventh.

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, who initially qualified at P8, faces a three-place grid penalty from the Canadian Grand Prix, which will drop him to P11. This penalty benefits Esteban Ocon and Oscar Piastri, promoting them ahead of Sunday’s race.
