Lewis Hamilton, a renowned name in Formula 1, has expressed his appreciation for the latest upgrades to his Mercedes race car, particularly their impact on cornering confidence.

Mercedes, a team known for its unwavering pursuit of performance enhancements, unveiled the latest version of its floor design at the recent United States Grand Prix in Austin.

These upgrades have a dual purpose, aiming to enhance lap times for the remaining races of the 2023 season while also laying the groundwork for next year’s car.

The W14, like its predecessor, posed challenges for both Hamilton and his teammate George Russell, primarily concerning confidence when navigating high-speed corners.

The Austin race showcased a significant improvement for Hamilton, even though he was later disqualified due to excessive wear on the car’s floor plank. Hamilton emphasized the value of the Austin upgrades, which not only provide increased rear downforce but also significantly boost driver confidence.

Hamilton remarked, “Definitely, I think the step that we were able to take this weekend has given me a little bit more confidence in the car, to throw it into the corners. I really enjoyed driving around this track. There are still some of the fundamental issues that we’re having with the car, which won’t change until next year. But it was really positive to feel that the steps that we are taking.”

He also noted that even a small upgrade translates into a boost in confidence, creating a positive chain reaction. These improvements are a testament to Mercedes’ dedication to continual enhancement in their quest for Formula 1 excellence.
