The national women’s rugby 7s team, the Lionesses, displayed resilience and determination as they secured a narrow yet crucial 17-12 victory against China in their opening match of the World Rugby 7s Challenger Series at Dubai’s Sevens Stadium.

Facing an early deficit after China’s Chen Keyi’s opening try, the Lionesses swiftly responded with captain Grace Adhiambo’s try, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive match. Stella Wafula and Judith Okumu added to the Lionesses’ tally, ensuring a hard-earned win.

Later in the day, the Lionesses faced the Czech Republic, who dominated Mexico 34-0 in their earlier encounter.

The Lionesses showcased their prowess and commitment, continuing their pursuit of success in the tournament. The team’s performance reflects their determination to leave a mark on the World Rugby 7s Challenger Series.
