Manchester City’s Phil Foden expressed his satisfaction with his current form after netting a hat-trick in a 3-1 victory over Brentford, propelling his team to second place in the Premier League standings.
The England international, who has now scored 14 goals this season, emphasized his enjoyment of playing in a more central role under Pep Guardiola.
“Really delighted with my performances, delighted with the way I’m playing,” Foden told Sky Sports. “Playing more inside, where I want to play, as well. (It is the) best form I’ve had in a City shirt for a long time, consistently.”
The win brought Manchester City within two points of league leaders Liverpool, with a game in hand still to be played.
Despite falling behind to an early goal from Neal Maupay, Manchester City showcased their resilience, with Foden equalizing just before halftime. He then completed his hat-trick with a header and a well-taken finish from Erling Haaland’s pass.
“We stayed calm. We are a team that trust our ability, we had to remain patient,” added Foden. “Throughout we deserved the win, had a lot of chances and dominated the ball.”
This victory also marked Manchester City as the first Premier League side to win four consecutive away games despite conceding first in all of them, further highlighting their mental strength and determination.
