Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League table after beating Fulham 2-1, with Newcastle and Manchester United also winning to bolster their chances of a top-four finish on Sunday.

Liverpool continued their unlikely push for a Champions League spot with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Tottenham, while Southampton and Leeds face the possibility of relegation.

Erling Haaland scored his 50th goal of the season during City’s win over Fulham, making him the first player to reach that milestone in a single English top-flight season since 1931.

The Norwegian striker’s goal also equals the Premier League’s single-season record held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole.

City boss Pep Guardiola congratulated Haaland on the achievement, and the team is now one point ahead of Arsenal with a game in hand.

Callum Wilson came off the bench to score twice as Newcastle came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1, leaving the latter just six points from the relegation zone with four games remaining.

Manchester United edged Aston Villa 1-0 and are now just two points behind Newcastle.

Liverpool’s win over Tottenham leaves them seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with one more game played. Bournemouth moved 10 points clear of the relegation zone with a 4-1 win over Leeds, who remain in danger of being relegated.
