Moroccan boxer Khadija El Mardi bagged the gold medal on Sunday in New Delhi, India, during the Women’s World Boxing Championships.
The national champion in the heavyweight division (over 81kgs) defeated her opponent, Kungeibayeva Lazzat from Kazakhstan, to claim the championship title.
El Mardi has an impressive record of victories, including becoming the African champion in 2022, winning a gold medal at the African Games in Rabat in 2019, and earning a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships.
Earlier this year, she also won the Mohammed VI Trophy gold medal.
Born in Casablanca in 1991, El Mardi’s unwavering dedication and heroic efforts to achieve success have brought great pride to Morocco, and she has paved the way for a successful career in boxing.
