Murang’a Seal closed the gap at the top of the National Super League to just three points after securing a 1-0 victory over Migori Youth in a challenging midweek clash at St Sebastian Park.

Eric Juma scored the decisive goal for Murang’a Seal in what turned out to be a hard-fought encounter.

With this win, Murang’a Seal now sits at 54 points from 25 matches, maintaining a goal difference of 32.

Shabana, the league leaders, will have a break until June 3 when they face Kibera Black Stars, while Murang’a Seal’s next match is against Mara Sugar, as they continue their pursuit of promotion, on Sunday in Awendo.

Despite the loss, Migori Youth remains in third place with 47 points, although they have played one more game than the top two teams.

In another match at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Mully Children’s Family (MCF) managed to salvage a 1-1 draw after initially falling behind against Darajani Gogo. Darajani, a new team in the league, remains in sixth position with 39 points.

The top two teams in the league will earn automatic promotion to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League for the upcoming season, while the third-placed team will compete in a promotion playoff against the 16th-placed team from the Kenyan Premier League.

Shabana and Murang’a Seal are currently favorites for automatic promotion, with only seven games remaining in the season.

Meanwhile, Migori Youth, Mara Sugar, and fifth-placed Gusii FC are vying for the play-off position.
