Murang’a Seal emerged victorious in a tightly contested match against Naivas, securing a 2-1 win at Camp Toyoyo in Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon.

John Kiplagat opened the scoring for SEAL in the 15th minute, but their lead was short-lived as Ken Mutembei equalized for Naivas just five minutes later. However, talisman Fabian “Barthez” Adikiny sealed the victory for the hosts with a goal in the 25th minute.

With this crucial win, Murang’a SEAL claimed the top spot in the National Super League (NSL) standings, although they have played two more matches than second-placed Shabana. Currently, Vincent Nyaberi’s side leads the log with 61 points from 28 rounds of play, while Shabana sits in second place with 60 points from 26 matches.

In the highly anticipated Coast derby at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa, SS Assad emerged victorious with a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over local rivals Mombasa Elite. Benjamin Nyamawi, the leading goal scorer in the NSL, found the back of the net in the 6th minute, securing the win for Assad.

Nyamawi capitalized on a deflected ball from the Elite defence and unleashed a powerful shot from 18 yards. Despite Mombasa Elite’s efforts to equalize, Assad’s solid defence, led by Mwandaru Omar, kept them at bay.

Elite had a chance to level the score just before halftime when Assad goalkeeper Said Ngare fouled Kassim Deka in the area, but Emmanuel Lunalo missed the penalty kick.

Assad maintained their dominance in the second half and came close to doubling their lead in the 71st minute, but Abdallah Mdeka’s shot missed the target. Elite’s best opportunity to equalize came through Deng Garang, whose close-range shot was deflected for a corner.
