Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen has expressed his gratitude for being appointed by President William Ruto as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports.

Murkomen shared his appreciation on social media, thanking President Ruto for the “incredible opportunity to serve our great nation, Kenya.”

In a post on X, Murkomen reflected on his recent experiences since the president dissolved the entire cabinet, including his previous role as Transport and Roads CS. He also issued an apology to Kenyans for any offense caused by his behavior and perceived lavish lifestyle.

“The past two weeks have been a time of deep reflection. I sincerely apologize to every Kenyan I may have offended through my words, actions, and lifestyle during my last two years in public service,” he stated.

This apology comes in response to criticism from Gen Z, who accused some public officials of extravagance and demanded greater accountability.

Murkomen emphasized his commitment to serving with diligence and accountability, pending approval by the National Assembly.

“Subject to Parliament’s approval, I pledge to serve the people of Kenya with great humility and unwavering accountability,” he added.
