Nairobi City Thunder Dominates KU Pirates 90-20 in KBF League Clash

Nairobi City Thunder displayed their dominance as they overpowered Kenyatta University Pirates in a one-sided Kenya National Basketball League encounter at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium. The final score stood at 90-20 in favour of Thunder.

From the very beginning, Thunder established their dominance, racing to a commanding 25-2 lead in the first quarter. The score at halftime was 51-11, leaving KU struggling to find a foothold.

The third quarter saw Thunder maintain their defensive prowess, holding KU scoreless and further extending their lead to 79-11. KU managed to score 9 points against Thunder’s 19 in the deciding quarter.

Coach Brad Ibs was pleased with the Thunder’s performance, particularly their defensive efforts. He said, “We are still working on our execution. I was impressed with the defence today. If we continue to do our very best and support each other, then I am sure we will do well.”

Leading the charge for Thunder was Garang Ding, who contributed 19 points, including three three-pointers, while Griffin Ligare added 10 points. Thunder also dominated on the boards, outrebounding KU 57-36.

In a ladies’ match, Africa Nazarene University’s Panthers defeated the University of Nairobi’s Dynamites with a final score of 42-23, holding a 16-11 lead at halftime. Dorsila Okode led the Rongai-based students with 10 points.

Strathmore University Swords secured a victory against Swish, winning 49-28 in another ladies’ match. Joy Mupalia was the standout performer for Swords, tallying 15 points, while Consolata Akoth contributed 13.

In other matches, Dynamites triumphed over Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology’s Lynx with a score of 42-29. Eudia Akinyi scored 14 points for UoN, while Diana Akinyi managed the same number for the Juja-based Lynx, who trailed 17-9 at halftime.
