Posted on

Nairobi Water has secured their sixth consecutive national handball women’s league title with an impressive 100 percent record this season, with one match still to go.

The team has won all 21 matches and scored over 800 goals while successfully defending their championship title.

Their final game of the season will be against Cereals women, as Nairobi Water aims to maintain their outstanding record of conceding just over 200 goals, averaging one conceded goal for every four they score.

In their second-to-last match at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi Water faced Ulinzi and narrowly emerged victorious with a 28-25 scoreline.

Despite the close margin, Nairobi Water dominated the match, led by Faith Mikhala’s on-target accuracy that resulted in her topping the score sheet with six goals.

Brendah Musambai also scored five goals, while Melvin Akinyi and Brendah Arivitza netted four times each. Additionally, Cecilia Katheli scored a hat-trick, and Mitchelle Oyoo and Merina Andala each scored twice.

On the opposing team, only four Ulinzi players managed to score, with Sarah Wasike leading the charge with 14 goals. Euphrasia Mukasia and Caren Lutengeya scored five and four goals, respectively, while Medina Kerubo and Sharon Chelule each scored one goal.

Nairobi Water’s final opponents, Cereals, prepared for the upcoming game by thrashing Daystar 35-16, hoping to prevent Nairobi Water from ending the season with a 100 percent winning record.

In another match, Kenyatta University beat Amazon 37-25, while in the men’s encounter, Spartans suffered a 37-30 loss to the Technical University of Kenya.
