The Paul Bitok National Volleyball Tournament is set to kick off this Friday in Nairobi, Kenya. The tournament will feature thrilling matches at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, Nyayo Stadium, and Ulinzi Sports Complex.
In Group A, multiple champions GSU will open the tournament against KAPU Club at Nyayo Stadium on Friday, followed by a match against Rwanda Air, the only foreign team participating in the three-day event.
Kenya Prisons will compete against Kenya Forest Services and KDF in Pool ‘D’, while KPA will face off with Kenya Army and Equity Bank in Pool B. Pool C will see AP Kenya, TrailBlazers, and Prisons Nairobi competing against each other. Reigning African Women’s Clubs champions KCB will begin their matches on Saturday against Nairobi Prisons, followed by a match against Post Bank on the same day, and concluding with a match against former KVF Women’s League champions Kenya Prisons on Sunday.
In Pool A, current KVF champions Kenya Pipeline will compete against Nairobi Water, KDF Women’s Team, and DCI.
Speaking at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, Paul Bitok, who is also the head coach of Malkia Strikers, expressed his excitement for the highly competitive tournament that brings together strong opponents to test their skills. He also emphasized the importance of developing and nurturing volleyball talent from the grassroots level, as he is also organizing a parallel competition in Kiminini, Bungoma County.
The winners of the first edition of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Sh. 100,000, while the runners-up will take home Sh. 50,000 in both categories.
