Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic has pledged to pay for the funerals of eight children and a security guard who were tragically killed in a shooting at Vladislav Ribnikar primary school in Belgrade on Wednesday.
The Slovenian, who has a Serbian father, also plans to counsel classmates and staff affected by the tragedy.
Doncic expressed his heartfelt sympathy for the victims and their families: “I am heartbroken by the tragic school shooting in Serbia and the loss of lives, including those of innocent children. I support and stand with you all during this difficult time.”
Through his charitable foundation, Doncic is committed to providing immediate and long-term support to the victims of the tragedy.
The shooting at the Vladislav Ribnikar primary school claimed the lives of eight children and a security guard, while six pupils and a teacher were injured.
A 13-year-old boy, along with his mother and father, has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
In a separate incident on Thursday, a suspect was arrested following a shooting near a village 60km south of Belgrade, which killed eight people and injured at least 14 others.
