The Royal Nairobi Golf Club set the stage for the official launch of the highly anticipated 2024 NCBA Golf Series on Thursday, heralding the start of a thrilling journey for golf enthusiasts across East Africa.
Now in its fourth edition since its inception in 2021, this year’s series vows to surpass previous iterations in both scale and excitement.
Building on the success of the 2023 edition, the 2024 NCBA Golf Series is expanding its reach beyond Kenya, extending its footprint to include golf clubs in Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. This expansion solidifies the tournament’s standing as a premier golfing event in the East African region.
Comprising 23 legs, the series will kick off with its first leg scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Kenya Railway Golf Club. From there, the tournament will traverse various clubs across Kenya and beyond, showcasing top-tier golfing talent and fostering camaraderie among participants.
At its core, the NCBA Golf Series aims to nurture local golfing talent in Kenya and across East Africa, with a vision to position the region as a hub for international golfing excellence. In a bid to support the development of junior golf, NCBA Group has teamed up with Kenya’s Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) to host three junior tournaments at Nakuru Golf Club, Nanyuki Sports Club, and Western, providing young talents with a platform to exhibit their skills and passion for the sport.
Speaking at the launch event, NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora expressed his excitement about the tournament, highlighting its significance in driving positive change in East Africa. Gachora emphasized the tournament’s alignment with the bank’s sustainability platform, Change The Story, which aims to champion inclusive communities through regional sports development initiatives.
Phillip Ocholla, Chairman of the Kenya Golf Union (KGU), echoed Gachora’s sentiments, expressing delight in partnering with NCBA Group for the 2024 NCBA Golf Series. Ocholla praised the collaboration for its dedication to nurturing golfing talent and promoting the sport’s growth across Kenya and beyond.
The launch of the 2024 NCBA Golf Series follows NCBA Group’s recent renewal of partnerships with the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) and the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF), further underscoring the bank’s unwavering support for golfing initiatives in the region. With partnerships valued at Sh18 million, NCBA Group reaffirms its commitment to driving the growth and vibrancy of the golfing community in East Africa.
