NCBA Bank and the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) have announced a partnership to support the growth and development of golf in Kenya.
As part of the partnership, NCBA will sponsor the 2023 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship events, which include the Amateur competition, Mug and Club Nites, juniors with JGF, and now partnering on the Elite-Amateur category with KGU.
The NCBA Golf Series aims to create a platform for amateur golfers to showcase their talent and provide a pathway to the professional ranks.
By partnering with KGU, NCBA is reaffirming its commitment to growing and professionalizing the sport in the country. The partnership will create a long-term connection between NCBA and the Kenya Golf Union, improving the skill sets of elite amateurs and providing more tournaments for players to practice and compete with their peers.
The partnership also aims to incentivize elite amateur golfers to play at a professional level by offering cash prizes, creating a platform to engage with the golfers for their financial success.
NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora expressed his excitement about the partnership during the cheque handover ceremony, stating that “our sponsorship of the 2023 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship events is part of our commitment to supporting the growth of the sport and the players who participate in it.”
Njiani Ndiritu, Chairman of the KGU, welcomed the partnership and emphasized the importance of private-sector support in promoting golf development in the country.
The partnership between NCBA Bank and KGU demonstrates the commitment of both organizations to promote golf development in Kenya, ensuring that the sport is accessible to all and creating a platform for players to showcase their skills.
The NCBA Golf Series will offer more than 60 golf events annually across the East Africa Region, with an investment of close to Sh60 million and a diverse list of participants, both male and female.
The best player of the series will be announced in December and will represent Kenya in the annual Magical Open tournament to be held in March 2024.
