NCPB, Nairobi Water Dorminate Handball League Standings with Stellar Weekend Performances
In a thrilling encounter, the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) handball team triumphed over Rangers with a convincing scoreline of 42-24 in the Kenya Handball Federation Premier League.
This crucial win has propelled NCPB to level on points with league leaders Nairobi Water, both accumulating 18 points.
The standout performer for NCPB was Naomi Muyoka, who showcased her prowess by scoring seven crucial goals. Despite a slow start in the first half, NCPB delivered a spectacular performance in the second half to secure the victory on Sunday.
This achievement follows a successful weekend for NCPB, as they also claimed a 25-22 victory over Kenyatta University on Saturday, earning them two valuable points in the league standings.
Head coach Bryan Matthews expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance but emphasized the need for continued effort in the upcoming fixtures. “We still need to put in a lot of effort and make sure we don’t lose any matches. The most important thing is winning all our remaining matches after already dropping two points this season,” noted Matthews.
Rangers, on the other hand, bounced back to winning ways by defeating Mountain Queens with a scoreline of 28-23, showcasing resilience and determination. In a varsity derby, Daystar demonstrated dominance by whitewashing JKUAT with a scoreline of 29-27.
In a closely contested encounter on Saturday, reigning champions Nairobi Water secured a narrow 28-27 victory over Ulinzi Sharks. Nairobi Water head coach Jack Ochieng praised Ulinzi Sharks for their resilience, acknowledging the competitive spirit that adds excitement to the league.
Nairobi Water currently leads the league standings with 18 points, level with NCPB but holding a superior goal difference, while Ulinzi Sharks are third with 16 points.
