NCPB Return to Action in Handball Clash Against Trans Nzoia
The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Champions are set to make their return to the handball arena as they face off against Trans Nzoia in a Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league showdown scheduled to take place at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.
NCPB, currently occupying the fourth spot on the league standings, boasts an undefeated record with five consecutive victories and enters the match as the favoured side against the youthful Kitale-based Trans Nzoia team.
The NCPB’s charge will be led by key players, including Captain Timothy Kirimi, Robert Maraga, Brian Wekukha, and Christian George. Coach Ryan Mathews acknowledged Trans Nzoia’s potential, stating, “They are a good team and have secured wins despite being newcomers to the league. Our approach remains consistent; we’re not taking any chances, treating every match as a final.”
Trans Nzoia had an impressive debut last weekend, securing three wins out of four matches, including a commanding 54-21 victory over Inspired. Coach Edwin Adamba expressed optimism, aiming for at least two more wins despite limited training time. Standout performers Daniel Ngoni, Brian Etyang, Kevin Wasike, and Collins Simiyu showcased their immense talent during their city debut.
In other league matchups, Kenyatta University is set to face Desert Scorpions, while Rangers will take on University of Eldoret Pippers, a team yet to participate in a game. Trans Nzoia’s second match will see them competing against Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
Nanyuki, who faced a 34-23 loss to league leaders Ulinzi, will confront 12th-placed Rangers, who have secured three wins in their opening four encounters.
Sunday’s fixtures will witness Trans Nzoia competing in two more matches, first against Pippers and later against neighbours Rangers.
Technical University of Kenya (TUK) will commence their campaign against Buccaneers Junior, who are also set for an exciting clash against Inspired. Pippers have another scheduled match against JKUAT, while Rangers will conclude their capital trip against Kenyatta University.
