Ngong Racecourse is set to host a spectacular racing event on the historic day when Charles Lindbergh achieved his momentous transatlantic flight on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

The race card promises a thrilling day of entertainment, combining the finest in fashion and the excitement of horse racing in Nairobi.

Le Kasri, a renowned Nairobi-based international fashion house, recognizes the racecourse as the epicenter of fashion in the city. Founder Ramah Hawkins expresses excitement, stating, “What we have here rivals fashion and racing events anywhere in the world, but with a unique Kenyan touch. The world is about to witness our distinct style!”

While fashion takes the spotlight off the track, accompanied by Nairobi’s popular pop-up market and vibrant DJs, the races themselves offer an equally captivating spectacle.

With a packed seven-card race on the excellent racing ground, the day promises intense competitions, testing both horse’s and jockeys’ strategies and stamina.

The first race, the Torrequebrada Handicap at 12:55 pm over 2060m, features Go Pro ridden by the skilled Henry Muya, making it the favorite on paper. The Cambrian Handicap at 1:30 pm, a gruelling 2400m race, presents Satyan and Rosie as top contenders.

For a touch of romance, It’s a Date ridden by Lesley Secombe adds a fanciful charm, while Jordan River, carrying less weight than the rest, might cause some surprises.

The Cambric Cup, a thrilling 1000m sprint at 2:05 pm, has Century Fox as the strong favorite, holding the record over this distance. However, Jack Sparrow, trained by the charismatic Ollie Gray, offers an alternative choice and carries less weight, potentially challenging the established contenders.

The Secret War Maiden at 2:40 pm, a 1400m mid-distance race exclusively for two-year-olds, is likely to be dominated by Carlisle. Moving on to the Gifted Warrior Handicap at 3:15 pm, Daisy emerges as the favorite, a force to be reckoned with among the runners.

The highlight of the day is the fiercely contested 1600m Civil Service Gold Cup at 3:50 pm, featuring the mighty Saint Moritz owned by Lady Spencer, up against the formidable General Lee.

In what promises to be a showdown of the top jockeys in Kenya, Lesley Sercombe and J Muhindi, Saint Moritz holds the punter’s favor.

The last race of the day, the 1200m dash at 4:25 pm, brings Camberley as the favorite. However, Ripon, with P Mungai as the jockey, cannot be overlooked and should provide a thrilling finale.

Adding to the excitement of the races, award-winning 254 Brewing, along with Maurizio’s, Fabio’s Pizza, and Lekker, offer an array of culinary delights. The epicurean selection now includes Nairobi’s best shawarma and Vietnamese cuisine, ensuring a complete experience for attendees.

Ngong Racecourse sets the stage for a remarkable fusion of fashion, gastronomy, and pulsating horse racing, providing a unique and unforgettable experience for all who attend
