Eliud Kipchoge, the two-time Olympic marathon champion, has received a special honour from his sponsor, Nike, in recognition of their long-standing partnership.

Nike has named a running track after Kipchoge at its European headquarters in the Netherlands and unveiled a statue in his honour at the company’s main headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, USA.

Kipchoge expressed his gratitude for the enduring partnership between him and Nike, dating back to 2003, and how they have played a pivotal role in his career. He mentioned the unveiling of the Eliud Kipchoge Track and statue at both Nike locations.

The 38-year-old athlete has achieved remarkable milestones during his partnership with Nike, including winning two Olympic marathon titles, becoming the first person to win the Berlin Marathon five times, and achieving the historic feat of running a marathon in under two hours during the Ineos 1:59 Challenge in Vienna, Austria, on October 12, 2019.

Kipchoge is also a four-time London Marathon champion and a two-time marathon world record-breaker.

This recognition by Nike symbolizes their longstanding collaboration and Kipchoge’s extraordinary achievements in the world of marathon running.
