Gor Mahia’s head coach, Jonathan McKinstry, has quashed rumors surrounding lead striker Benson Omalla’s potential move to Algerian top-flight side USM Alger.

McKinstry clarified that they have not received any official offer for Omalla, emphasizing that the young Harambee Stars attacker is still under contract with the Kenyan champions.

He stated that there is currently no release clause in Omalla’s contract, and any move would need to adhere to the necessary procedural requirements.

“We have not received any offer of interest for Benson. He is still our player, and he has no release clause in his engagement with the club for now,” affirmed McKinstry. He dismissed reports circulating on social media, indicating that neither USM Alger nor any other team has approached Gor Mahia seeking Omalla’s signature.

While McKinstry acknowledged that the club cannot obstruct a player’s transfer if a compelling offer arises, he clarified that as of now, Omalla remains an integral part of Gor Mahia.

Omalla, the current leading scorer in the Kenyan Premier League with nine goals, has been a key player for Gor Mahia.

In other transfer news, McKinstry confirmed the imminent departure of Ugandan international Rodgers Mugisha, set to join Danish second-tier club AC Horsens. McKinstry acknowledged Mugisha’s contributions to Gor Mahia and expressed that his departure would be felt.

Gor Mahia is currently unbeaten in the ongoing campaign, and McKinstry highlighted the team’s cautious approach to maintain this record. He noted that every opposing team aims to end Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run, making it a significant achievement for the club to preserve this record.
