Obunga FC emerged victorious in the 2024 Safaricom Chapa Dimba boys’ final, defeating Rift Valley’s PASC Langa in a tense penalty shootout, with goalkeeper William Odek playing a starring role by saving two spot-kicks in a thrilling finale at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on Sunday.

The match ended 1-1 in regulation time, with PASC Langa equalizing in the 77th minute after a rare error from Odek negated George Ogutu’s early goal for Obunga.

Despite missing Ogutu in the semifinals, the striker made an immediate impact by finding the net just six minutes into the final, sending the home fans into jubilation.

The first half was a fast-paced affair, with both teams creating chances. PASC Langa squandered a golden opportunity to level the score early on, while Odek demonstrated his prowess by making crucial saves to keep Obunga in the lead.

As the rain poured down, causing a delay in the second half, PASC Langa intensified their attacks and eventually found the equalizer.
