Omanyala Gears Up for Busy Athletics Calendar as AK Track and Field Event Beckons

Posted on

Ferdinand Omanyala, the record holder for the 100m in Africa, is set to kick off his 2024 athletics season at the second Athletics Kenya track and field event, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

As Omanyala embarks on a busy athletics calendar, including key events like the World Indoor Championships in March, World Relays Championships in May, and the Olympic Games in August, the Commonwealth Games champion aims for a strong start.

Under the guidance of coach Geoffrey Kimani, Omanyala, who finished seventh at the 2023 World Championships and third in the Diamond League final, is gearing up for a demanding campaign.

Simon Koech, the reigning Diamond League winner, is also eyeing consecutive victories in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase after his triumph at the first track and field event three weeks ago.

Athletes are set to select their bib numbers individually on Thursday, as directed by Athletics Kenya.
