Esther Mutinda of KCB and Elphas Makuto of Kenya Prisons emerged as the Most Valuable Players (MVPs) in their respective categories in a thrilling conclusion to the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League play-offs at the Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium.
Esther Mutinda, the KCB setter, left a lasting mark on the night by not only claiming the MVP title but also being recognized as the best setter. Her exceptional performances played a pivotal role in KCB securing their first league title since 2008.
Mutinda expressed her delight at being named MVP, giving credit to her teammates and coaches for their unwavering support and teamwork throughout the season. Her standout performance in the final against Kenya Pipeline was particularly instrumental in KCB’s victory.
Elphas Makuto, representing Kenya Prisons, was equally thrilled to have made a significant contribution to his team’s success. His powerful hits from the centre and his impressive blocking skills were crucial factors in Kenya Prisons’ triumph, marking their first title win in seven years.
In the women’s league, individual excellence was also celebrated, with Triza Atuka earning the title of best server, Juliana Namutira being recognized as the best-left attacker, Lorine Kaei of Prisons excelling as the best middle blocker, and Aggripina Kundu of Pipeline shining as the best libero.

In the men’s league, standout players were acknowledged for their exceptional skills. Joshua Kimaru of the General Service Unit was honoured as the best server, Shadrack Misiko, also from GSU, was named the best-left attacker, Kelvin Maiyo of Prisons received recognition as the best setter, and the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) duo of Micah Lemoi and Sam Juma were both celebrated as the best middle blocker and libero, respectively.
The KVF National League play-offs showcased remarkable talent and teamwork, with Mutinda and Makuto rightfully earning the coveted MVP titles for their outstanding contributions to their respective teams’ success.
