Emma Raducanu receives direct entry into the Australian Open main draw following Lauren Davis’ withdrawal due to a shoulder injury.
Despite being ranked 301st globally, Raducanu secures a spot with a special ranking of 103, her position before a six-month injury hiatus. The Australian Open, commencing on January 14 in Melbourne, will witness Raducanu’s participation as the draw unfolds on January 11.
Other withdrawals include Karolina Muchova, Irina-Camelia Begu, Caty McNally, and Petra Kvitova, who withdrew after announcing her pregnancy.
Raducanu, the former US Open champion, recently returned to the tour in Auckland with a win over Elena Gabriela Ruse. Scheduled for a second-round match against Elina Svitolina, Raducanu continues her comeback journey.
