Rashford To Miss A ‘Few Games’ For Man Utd With Muscle Injury

Posted on

Manchester United will be without their star forward, Marcus Rashford, for their upcoming UEFA Europa League quarter-final first-leg match against Sevilla.

The club confirmed on Wednesday that Rashford suffered a muscle injury during their Premier League win over Everton on Saturday and is expected to be sidelined for “a few games”, but is anticipated to return for the season run-in.

Rashford, who has scored 28 goals for United this season under manager Erik Ten Hag, was substituted in the 80th minute of the Everton match and immediately went to the dressing room for treatment.

Further assessment revealed the extent of the injury, forcing him to miss the crucial Europa League fixture.

Despite Rashford’s absence, United can draw strength from the recent return to fitness of Anthony Martial, who scored a goal against Everton, and the availability of loan signing Wout Weghorst as another attacking option.

Additionally, creative midfielder Christian Eriksen made a substitute appearance after a lengthy injury lay-off, and Casemiro is expected to return to the squad after serving a suspension.

Manchester United, who won the League Cup in February, is currently vying for a top-four spot in the Premier League and has an FA Cup semi-final against Brighton later this month.

Rashford’s injury presents a setback, but the team remains focused on their upcoming challenges and aims to continue their pursuit of success in various competitions.
