Kenyan athlete Beatrice Chebet, who recently won the World Cross Country Championships, is gearing up for her first competitive track race at the Nairobi Continental Tour Gold meet.
The rising star will compete in the women’s 5,000m at the event, which will be held at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Chebet is excited to compete in front of home fans and is using the event to prepare for the World Cross Country Championships in Budapest later this year.
Chebet will also be competing in the 1,500m at the Oslo Diamond League on June 15, where she plans to work on her speed in preparation for the World Championships.
She won the Diamond League trophy for the 5,000m last year, which earned her a wild card entry to the 2023 Championships.
Chebet is determined to win a gold medal this year and is working on building endurance and speed to achieve her goal.
Chebet will face tough competition at the Kip Keino Classic, including her compatriots Margaret Chelimo, Judith Kiyeng, Grace Loibach, Caroline Nyaga, Nancy Cherop, and Betty Chelangat, as well as Ethiopians Hawi Abera and Tadese Tsuge. The Kenyan athlete is optimistic and confident that she will emerge victorious.
