South African Rugby is yet to confirm Springbok skipper Siya Kolisi’s availability for World Cup defence following his knee surgery.
The Sharks captain partially tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a United Rugby Championship game on April 22.
He underwent surgery on Friday and took to Instagram to announce that his recovery process had started.
SA Rugby says they will monitor his rehabilitation, and Springboks’ team doctor Jerome Mampane has said it’s too early to make any reliable forecasts on his return to play.
The Rugby World Cup will take place in France from September 8 to October 28, and Kolisi, who led South Africa to victory in 2019, will join Racing 92 on a multi-year deal after the tournament.
