Mercy Nyanchama of Vet Lab Sports Club won the overall title in the Karen Ladies Open despite three-putting the last hole from seven feet, beating Louisa Gitau on countback at the Karen Country Club course.
Nyanchama posted six over par 78, while Agnes Nyakio of Vet Lab finished third with a score of 79 gross, and Margaret Njoki in fourth place with 82.
Tournament favourite Joyce Wanjiru managed to finish fifth overall despite playing with a bad flu and posting 86 gross. In the nett section, Wayua Mululu won on countback with nett 72, followed by Naomi Kimata, and Rachel Ndei in third on 74, after a countback with Dorcas Mbalanya and Kanana Muthomi.
In the B division, Janealice Mutuota won on countback with nett 70, beating Brianna Ngecu, while Carol Onsando was third on 73 nett after a countback with Michelle Muhanda.
Lillian Atho won the C division title with an impressive 68 nett, winning by two shots from Marie Mugo and Rehema Okal on 70 nett. The junior title went to Nyawira Macharia who carded 75 nett, while Patrick Rono won the sponsors’ prize with 72 nett.
In a charity golf event for the visually vulnerable held at Karen on Friday, Adams Kipkemei Menet won the overall title with an impressive 45 points, followed by Bachu Mtsumi who carded 39 points to win the men’s category ahead of Dennis Makori on 37 points.
Makori won on countback from Dennis Maara who took the third prize. Felista Mutinda led the ladies with a score of 43 points, while Gladys Mboya finished second on 34 points after beating Valentine Gari on countback.
The nines went to Polycap Onyango and Juma Kandie, who posted 21 points each, while Dennis Maara and Doris Owiti won the longest drive contest and Kevin Juma won the nearest to pin award.
