The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has officially appointed Pape Thiaw as the head coach of the national football team, tasking the 43-year-old with leading the team to reclaim the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title and secure qualification for the next FIFA World Cup.
Thiaw’s appointment was confirmed on Friday following his interim role, which he assumed in October after the dismissal of long-serving coach Aliou Cisse.
Cisse had been at the helm since 2015, guiding Senegal to their first-ever AFCON triumph in 2022 and leading the team to two consecutive World Cup appearances.
Thiaw’s selection marks the beginning of a new chapter for Senegalese football, with fans and stakeholders alike hoping he can build on the foundations laid by his predecessor and bring continued success to the national team.
