Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Africa Women’s Basketball League (AWBL) following a convincing 74-59 victory over Cameroon’s University of Douala (UoD) in their third Group A match in Alexandria, Egypt.
Led by the outstanding performance of Kenyan international Victoria Reynolds, who contributed a game-high 24 points, KPA showcased excellent transitional play to overcome an initial setback, trailing 0-3 after tip-off.
The team dominated the second quarter with key contributions from Hilda Indasi, Madina Okot, and Antoinette Bannister, establishing a comfortable 35-22 lead at halftime.
Under the guidance of coach Anthony Ojukwu, KPA maintained their intensity in the second half, winning the third quarter 22-20. Despite facing foul trouble in the last quarter, which allowed UoD to secure an 18-17 victory, KPA sealed the match with a final score of 74-59.
With three consecutive wins, KPA has been a standout team in Alexandria, securing a place in the knockout stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, Kenya’s Equity Hawks, with a 1-2 record, faces a crucial Group B clash against Overdose Up Station of Cameroon on Friday, aiming to secure a spot in the next stage of the tournament.
