Shujaa great Collins Injera to be inducted into Fiji Hall of Fame

The Shujaa legend will join other veterans such as Ben Gollings, Waisale Serevi, Jonah Lomu, Karl Tenana in the Hall Of Fame.

Kenya 7s great Collins Injera is set to be inducted into the Fiji Hall of Fame in Sigatoka during the Coral Coast Sevens tournament set to be played from 12-14 January 2023.

Injera, 36, who is Shujaa’s top try scorer, sits second on the all-time try scoring list on the prestigious HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series having managed to record 279 tries during his time with the men’s national sevens team.

Following his incredible career, Jay Whyte, the tournament’s founding chairman, said the Shujaa legend will join such as David Campese (Australia), Waisale Serevi (Fiji), Jonah Lomu (New Zealand), Viliame Satala (Fiji), Ben Gollings (England), Karl Tenana (New Zealand) and Lote Tuqiri (Australia) in the star studded Hall of Fame

“The concept and genesis behind the WALK OF FAME was an idea I created to recognize legends of the game of rugby who have been servants of the game, helping to grow the game around the world,” he said.

“The decision regarding choice of players is simple in that they must be retired and not playing anymore. The plaques include their playing career statistical information, including things like number of tries, games played, key achievements, et cetera.

We decided to reach out to Collins as he has finished his 7s career as the 2nd top try scorer in the world series and has delighted fans around the world with his skills,” he mentioned.

Additionally, the Kenya Sevens speedster will also be the tournament ambassador for the Coral Coast Sevens which will feature 16 men’s teams, 12 women’s teams and 16 youth teams.

Injera, will be inducted alongside Fiji 7s star of the 90s Noa Nadruku. Nadruku, 55, was one of the stars of the Fiji 7s team in the 90s efore moving to Australia to make a name for himself in Rugby League with Canberra Raiders where he won the 1994 Grand Final. In 1993 and 1996 he was the top try-scorer in the NRL.
