The national rugby sevens team, Shujaa, suffered a winless campaign in the World Rugby Sevens Series circuit held in France.
Competing in the pool ‘A’ against Uruguay, Canada, and New Zealand, Damian McGrath’s side began the tournament with a loss against Canada on Friday.
Prior to the Toulouse’s leg, Shujaa was placed 13th on the log, accumulating 37 points.
In their second match, Shujaa could only manage a single try as they succumbed to a 31-5 defeat against New Zealand, with Dennis Abukuse scoring the only try for the Kenyan side.
Shujaa’s final Pool A fixture ended in a 33-7 loss against Canada on Saturday afternoon. Although Daniel Taabu scored and converted a try, Max Stewart had already given Canada the lead with a third-minute try. Tom Isherwood further extended Canada’s lead to 14-5 at halftime with a try and conversion.
In the second half, Dave Richard’s try put Canada 19-5 up, and Isherwood later converted tries from Matt Oworu and Josiah Morra to seal the full-time result.
