Shujaa Selects 15 players for Upcoming European Assignments
Shujaa’s head coach, Damian McGrath, has unveiled a 15-man team for the final two rounds of the 2022/23 World Rugby Sevens Series, which will take place in Toulouse, France, and London, England.
The team was announced at the Kasarani training base, where McGrath expressed his confidence in the squad, saying they had picked a strong and experienced team.
McGrath highlighted the team’s Achilles heel, which has been their own mistakes, and emphasized the need to eliminate them. He stated that the team had a simple plan that would hopefully suit their strengths, and they would try to execute it to the best of their abilities.
Shujaa’s performance at the Singapore Sevens was disappointing, and the team needs to improve in the remaining legs of the series. Humphrey Kayange, a former Shujaa skipper and KRU Director in Charge of National Squads, acknowledged the challenges the team has faced this season but urged them to focus on Toulouse and work hard to maintain their status on the series.
The Shujaa squad comprises of Nelson Oyoo as the captain, Herman Humwa, Edmund Anya, Brian Tanga, Johnstone Olindi, Alvin Otieno, Kevin Wekesa, Jeff Oluoch, John Okoth, George Ooro, Daniel Taabu, Denis Abukuse, Billy Odhiambo, Ronaldo Omondi, and Tony Omondi.
