Kenya’s Shujaa kicked off their campaign in the Challenger Sevens series in Dubai with an impressive 41-0 victory against Mexico.
The Kenyan side, led by coach Kevin Wambua, showcased dominance throughout the match, with Kevin Wekesa securing an early 10-0 lead through two quick tries.
Playmaker Samuel Asati orchestrated brilliant plays, setting up Nigel Amaitsa for another try, while Patrick Odongo’s speed contributed to a commanding 22-0 lead at halftime.
The onslaught continued in the second half, with Odongo securing his second try and additional scores from Vincent Onyala and John Okoth, sealing a comprehensive win.
Shujaa is set to face Uganda next, followed by a final pool match against Germany on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Lionesses suffered a narrow 12-10 defeat to the Czech Republic, with a red card altering the dynamics of the match.
Despite a strong start with tries from Sharon Auma and Christabel Lindo, the Lionesses will look to bounce back in their final match against Germany on Saturday, having secured a narrow win over China in their tournament opener.
