KCB RFC extended their winning streak to six matches in the Kenya Cup after a dominant 53-8 victory over Nondies at the Ngong Racecourse on Saturday. Austin Sikutwa led the charge with a hat-trick of tries, guiding the bankers to a resounding win.
The game started on a tough note for Nondies, as Charles Odhiambo was sent to the sin bin just three minutes in. KCB capitalized quickly, with Lionel Ajeliti slotting in a penalty four minutes later to put the bankers ahead 3-0.
Nondies responded through Ian Mumbwani, who converted a penalty in the 14th minute to level the score at 3-3. However, that was as close as they got, as Sikutwa soon took over the game.
14th minute: Sikutwa scored KCB’s first try, followed by a successful conversion (10-3).
33rd minute: Despite Fidel Maina being sent to the bin, Sikutwa scored his second try, converting it himself to extend the lead to 17-3.
Halftime setback for Nondies: Captain Steve Odhiambo received a yellow card, further denting their chances.
The bankers came back even stronger in the second half as Manasseh Oduor crossed over for a try, converted by Sikutwa, extending the lead to 24-3. Sikutwa completed his hat trick, pushing KCB further ahead at 31-3.
Brian Wahinya came off the bench to score, converting his own try for 38-3. Laban Kipsang, another substitute, also got on the scoresheet, with Sikutwa converting to make it 45-3. Nondies finally managed a consolation try through Brian Amaitsa, bringing the score to 45-8. However, KCB added another eight points, sealing a 53-8 victory in a commanding performance.
With this win, KCB RFC continues to assert dominance in the Kenya Cup, showcasing both depth and resilience. Sikutwa’s stellar performance further cements his role as a key player in the squad’s title ambitions.
