Cameroon’s Africa Cup of Nations squad for the upcoming tournament in Ivory Coast has been announced by head coach Rigobert Song, with notable absentee Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, the Bayern Munich striker.
The squad includes stars playing abroad, such as Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana and Besiktas striker Vincent Aboubakar.
Song, a former pivotal player for Cameroon, decided to omit Choupo-Moting, stating, “We all know he is an important player; however, one has to make choices.” The squad features only two players who play in Cameroon, forward Leonel Ateba and midfielder Wilfried Nathan Douala. The tournament runs from January 13 to February 11.
