The third edition of Sterling Gold Cup tournament is set to take place this weekend from 21st to 22nd and the finals on the 28th of May 2022 at the Nyayo National Stadium Indoor Arena.
Sterling Gold Cup is a ladies’ basketball Championship aimed at nurturing and developing women’s basketball in the Country.
During the last year’s Championship, Equity Bank bagged the first position while Money Team and Zetech emerged second and third respectively. Hilda Ndegwa of Equity Bank bagged Most Valuable Player.
The event organizer, Mr Job Waka is optimistic that this year’s tournament is big and better a number of teams have confirmed their participation.
“This year’s competition will be more electric according to our expectations due to the ease of Covid-19 restrictions in sporting activities. We expect to have fans in the stands, which will give the players motivation,” said Job Waka, the Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Sports and Arts Inc.
The Championship is sponsored by Sterling Sports & Arts Inc. Established in 2014, Sterling Sports Inc. is a multi-faceted sports firm that exists to offer sports education, training, sporting events, technology and arts development programs and opportunities to individuals, athletes, students, coaches or administrators of different sports categories at the grassroots level in the East African region.
The winners will be awarded a trophy and cash prize
Equity Banks, UON, Bears, Zetech University, Lady Rebels, ANU, Phoenix, and JKUAT University have confirmed their participation in this edition tournament.
