Strathmore Scorpions Aim for Victory Against Amira Sailors After Slow Start

Posted on

Defending champions Strathmore University Scorpions are determined to bounce back from their recent loss as they prepare to face off against newcomers Amira Sailors in their next Kenya Women Hockey League fixture.

The Scorpions suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Blazers on Sunday at City Park, prompting head coach Meshack Senge to emphasize the need for improved tactics and focus going into the upcoming match.

Despite the setback, Senge remains optimistic about his team’s prospects for the season, noting that it’s still early days and too soon to talk about the league title.

He acknowledged that establishing themselves as contenders early on is crucial, especially after their unbeaten record from last season was tarnished by the recent defeat.

As a young team, Senge believes in learning from both victories and losses, identifying areas for improvement and continuing to grow.

He emphasized the importance of building the mental strength of his players, as he feels it’s an area where they currently lack.

One challenge for the Scorpions has been the departure of key player Gilly Akumu, who switched sides to join Amira Sailors.

Despite this setback, Senge expressed confidence in his team’s ability to nurture fresh talents and find a suitable replacement.

With their sights set on redemption, the Strathmore University Scorpions are eager to regroup, strategize, and put their best foot forward in their upcoming fixture against Amira Sailors.
