The Kenya Women’s National Hockey Team has secured the second position in Africa, according to the latest rankings released by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) as of November 5, 2023.
Gathering 943.73 points, the Blades trail the top-ranked South Africa by 472 points, with the latter boasting 1416.59 points.
Globally, Kenya secures the 30th spot, ranking ten positions below South Africa, which holds 20th place. The Blades recently clinched a bronze medal in the African Hockey Road to the 2024 Paris Olympic qualifiers.
After Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and Egypt claim the third, fourth, and fifth spots, accumulating points totalling 859.36, 815.74, and 670, respectively.
Zimbabwe (60th), Namibia (66th), Zambia (75th), and Uganda (77th) round up the top 80 ranked teams in the world.
The Netherlands, Australia, and Argentina secure the first, second, and third positions globally, respectively.
Despite their last match played on August 26, the Netherlands have earned 3422.40 points. Australia, part of the Oceania hockey federation, holds 2817.73 points, while third-placed Argentina, dominant in the Pan American hockey federation, secured 2766.90 points.
In the men’s category, Kenya holds the fourth position continentally and 57th globally. South Africa, Egypt, and Ghana maintain the top three spots on the continent.
