Ahead of the highly anticipated Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), tension mounts as delegates vow to protect the integrity of the meeting at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) on Saturday.

Representatives from the FKF Premier League, National Super League, and various branches, numbering about 60, convened a press conference to assert their commitment to upholding the FKF constitution and preventing any disruptions.

“We will not hesitate to use all legal means available to eject anyone attempting to disrupt our AGM,” declared James Kamau, FKF Kiambu County chairman, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the future of football in Kenya.

The brewing conflict stems from Murang’a Seal, an FKF Premier League side, insisting on the attendance of Extreme Sports CEO Hussein Mohammed as their representative. However, FKF disputes Mohammed’s status as a registered official of the club, as indicated in the Club Licensing documents submitted at the start of the season.

Robert Macharia, chairman and owner of Murang’a Seal, maintains that Hussein will represent them at the AGM, reportedly eyeing the president’s seat in the upcoming elections.

In response, Patrick Korir, CEO of Nairobi City Stars, clarified that according to Article 8.14 of the FKF Constitution, clubs can only be represented by officials listed in official documents submitted to the Federation.

The impending clash is expected to escalate on Saturday, with uncertainty surrounding Hussein’s attendance at the AGM on behalf of Murang’a Seal. Despite FKF’s stance, Hussein has expressed his intention to oppose various agenda items, including financial matters and electoral rules, suggesting that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should oversee the elections.

Delegates voiced their commitment to upholding the FKF Constitution and ensuring that only legitimate members participate in the AGM proceedings. Lucy Kithinji, Nyandarua Branch Chair, and Yussuf Swaleh, Darajani Gogo chairman representing National Super League clubs, emphasized the importance of adhering to the constitution to maintain order and integrity within the Federation.

As the FKF AGM approaches, discussions will focus on critical matters such as the electoral code and the constitution of the electoral board, shaping the roadmap for the upcoming elections.
