In the face of Accra’s intense heat, NOCK President Paul Tergat has advised Kenya’s athletes to stay well-hydrated and to seek indoor refuge when not competing.

Tergat, a marathon icon, shared his insights with the athletes at Accra University, emphasizing the importance of proper preparation for peak performance.

Tergat, alongside notable figures such as David Ngugi and Nderitu Gikaria, highlighted the Africa Games as a pivotal event that could lead to further opportunities in international sports. He urged the athletes to take the competition seriously, aiming to add to Kenya’s medal count.

The athletics events kicked off with high expectations for Team Kenya, featuring world champion Mary Moraa in the women’s 400m heats and promising contenders in both the men’s 400m and various field events.

Kenya has already made its mark with Faith Ogallo earning a bronze in the heavyweight female category, contributing to the nation’s growing tally of medals. The team remains hopeful for continued success as the games progress.
