In the ongoing qualification campaign in Pretoria, South Africa, the national women’s hockey team strengthened their bid for the Paris Olympics with a 1-0 victory against Namibia on Wednesday evening.

The crucial goal came from Grace Bwire in the 53rd minute, following a determined effort against their resilient southern African opponents.

This win contributed to the Kenyan team’s unblemished record in the pool stages. Their earlier matches included a commanding 4-0 triumph over Zambia and a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Ghana, setting the stage for their upcoming encounter with Nigeria in the semi-finals.

The ultimate prize of securing a place in the Olympics is on the line for the winners of this tournament.

On the men’s side, the team aims to secure their second victory and progress to the knockout stages as they prepare to face Ghana.

Their tournament journey began with a 2-0 defeat to Egypt but was rejuvenated with a narrow 1-0 win over Zambia, courtesy of a goal by Robert Masibo.
