The World Rugby U20 Trophy 2023 is in full swing as all eight teams return to action at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya. Day two of the tournament kicked off with an intense battle between Samoa and Hong Kong China in Pool B.

Samoa, a team with a remarkable history in the U20 Trophy, having reached the final in each of their previous three appearances, took a step towards a fourth final as they secured their second win of the tournament against Hong Kong China.

The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with the TOA Samoa down to 14 players after a red card in the first half. However, a remarkable second-half turnaround, with 8 conversion points, saw Samoa claim victory with a score of 25 to 19 for Hong Kong.

The Samoans now look forward to their clash against Spain U20, aiming to continue their winning streak on Tuesday, 25th July. The Asian team, optimistic about finishing 7th in the pool, is still hopeful of a chance to make it to the semifinals.

For Uruguay, currently second in Pool A and Zimbabwe, the stakes are high as they face each other in the next match. Pool leaders Scotland will also look to maintain their winning momentum as they take on the USA.

The clash between Samoa and Hong Kong China carries additional significance, as it may determine Hong Kong China’s chances of qualifying for the U20 Championship for the first time. Another victory for Samoa could end Hong Kong’s aspirations for promotion.

Kenya, playing on home turf, will be eager to give their fans something to cheer about as they seek their first win of the 2023 U20 Trophy against Spain in the final match of the day.

As the tournament progresses, the teams are well aware that the stakes are high. The third round of the pool stage takes place on the 25th of July, with the top teams from each pool advancing to the final five days later.

The victorious team in the final will earn a coveted promotion to the prestigious World Rugby U20 Championship in 2024.

The World Rugby U20 Trophy 2023 has already provided thrilling moments and incredible displays of rugby talent. As the competition heats up in Nairobi, fans around the world are eagerly following the journey of these young players, hoping to witness the rise of new rugby stars.
