Thunder Set for Title Clash with KPA in KBF Finals Showdown

Posted on

The Nairobi City Thunder, led by coach Brad Ibs, are riding a wave of confidence as they set their sights on the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) men’s Premier League title.

Their journey to the finals has been marked by a flawless record, culminating in a decisive 3-0 semi-final series victory over Equity Dumas.

Coach Ibs expressed relief at overcoming the formidable Dumas, acknowledging their talent and the challenge they pose. The Thunder’s performance in game three was particularly dominant, securing a 77-54 win that showcased their strategic superiority and marked their largest victory margin this season.

The Thunder’s cohesive play and dynamic rotations proved too much for Equity, who struggled to keep pace, especially in the latter half of the game. The Thunder’s lead grew from a narrow 13-11 at the end of the first quarter to a commanding 298-26 by halftime, and they never looked back.

Despite an injury-hampered effort from Equity’s Eugene Adera and the absence of Marol Achei, the Thunder’s Griffin Ligare led his team with an impressive 19 points and nine rebounds. Teammates Garang Ding and Fidel Okoth also contributed significantly to the win with double-digit scores.

Looking ahead, the Thunder are preparing for a tough battle against the defending champions, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). Coach Ibs is aware of the challenge but remains optimistic, citing his team’s regular-season success as a reason for confidence.

The Thunder aim to bring their winning momentum to KPA’s home court, with the ultimate goal of clinching the league title. The stage is set for what promises to be an electrifying finale to the KBF men’s Premier League.
