Tusker FC takes the top spot in the FKF Premier League after a comfortable 2-0 win against Wazito FC at Ruaraka Grounds on Wednesday afternoon.
With 25 matches played, Tusker’s points tally for the season rose to 54, putting them one point ahead of Gor Mahia FC. The result dealt another blow to Wazito, who remains second to last on the league table, having now lost four consecutive games and fallen ten points away from top-flight safety.
Earlier in the league clash at Sudi Stadium, Kenya Police dealt a crushing 4-0 defeat to fellow strugglers Vihiga Bullets, with Duke Abuya, Francis Kahata, Alvin Mangeni, and Elvis Rupia all scoring.
In the ninth minute, Tusker got off to a dream start at Ruaraka with an Erick Otieno goal following a lightning-fast counter-attack led by Lawrence Luvanda.
Fifteen minutes later, Luvanda doubled their lead with a simple finish after some unselfish play from Daniel Sakari.
Wazito trailed 2-0 at halftime and showed little promise of a response to their opponent’s quality and creativity. In the 60th minute, Captain Humphrey Mieno’s fabulous cross found Shaphan, who tested but could not beat the goalkeeper.
Towards the end of the game, Wazito made some attempts to threaten Tusker but were repelled by coach Robert Matano’s charges.
