Ulinzi Stars and Tusker FC Progress to FKF Cup Semi-Finals

Ulinzi Stars have secured their place in the semi-finals of the FKF Cup after defeating Sofapaka FC 5-4 on penalties at the Kenya Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation time, which led to the quarter-final match being decided on penalties, with Ulinzi ultimately emerging as the winner.

Tusker FC also made it to the semi-finals earlier on by defeating KCB FC 2-0 thanks to goals from David Odoyo and Shaphan Siwa.

The next set of semi-finalists will be decided on Sunday when Kakamega Homeboyz face off against Kariobangi Sharks and AFC Leopards take on Bandari FC.

Ulinzi midfielder Boniface Muchiri will face his former team Tusker in the semi-finals, where he made a name for himself as a star player. “We are not afraid to meet Tusker FC in the semi-finals. We have what it takes to win, as we have proven today against Sofapaka, and with determination and drive, we will win again,” said Muchiri.

The match between Ulinzi Stars and Tusker FC is a rematch of the 2016 final, where Tusker emerged as the victors with a score of 2-0. Ulinzi Stars have never won the FKF Cup before, having lost in the final on two occasions – in 1996 and 2016.

Currently, Ulinzi Stars sit in seventh place on the FKF Premier League standings, while Tusker FC are in second place, two points behind league leaders Gor Mahia FC.
