Emma Raducanu is set to return to the tennis tour in Auckland during the first week of January, marking her comeback since her last match in April.

The 2021 US Open champion, who underwent three operations and fell to 296 in the world rankings, has been granted a wildcard entry into the ASB Classic.

Raducanu will join other notable players like Coco Gauff and Caroline Wozniacki in the women’s tournament from January 1-7. Having undergone surgery on her hands and left ankle, Raducanu will use a protected ranking of 103 to navigate her return, and her participation in the Australian Open will depend on wildcards or withdrawals from other players.

Despite withdrawing from a recent exhibition event in Macau, Raducanu is expected to resume her preparations at the National Tennis Centre in London.
