Recalling the Hungarian GP, where reigning world champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull secured a resounding victory, it was also a podium triumph for McLaren’s Lando Norris.

A glorious moment for both drivers, however, it ended in an unexpected twist when Norris accidentally shattered Verstappen’s winner’s trophy during his exuberant celebration.

In a light-hearted Instagram post, Verstappen shared that he had picked up a replica of the trophy alongside Norris, playfully commenting, “It is in one piece.”

In the lead-up to this weekend’s Monza Grand Prix in Italy, Max Verstappen, the defending champion, has finally laid hands on the Hungarian Grand Prix winner’s trophy.

Verstappen documented the moment on his Instagram as he collected the replica trophy alongside Lando Norris, adding a touch of humour by stating, “Lando is not allowed to touch it.” Norris, known for his podium celebration trademark of smashing his champagne bottle, resulting in sparkling wine splashing across the podium, had inadvertently caused the trophy mishap during the Hungarian GP.

Following a thrilling weekend of competitive racing at the Hungarian GP, the post-race podium ceremony took an unexpected turn when Verstappen’s trophy unexpectedly fell and shattered. Despite the mishap, both drivers shared a laugh, and Norris later issued an apology to the world champion, stating, “It was never my intention to do such a thing.”

Regardless of the incident, Norris remains committed to his unique celebration style but vows to exercise caution in future races. He intends to move trophies out of harm’s way before embarking on his signature celebration.

As Formula One gears up for the Monza GP this weekend, both Norris and Verstappen are eyeing podium finishes.

Verstappen is in pursuit of a record-breaking 10th successive win after his recent triumph at the Dutch Grand Prix.
