Wafalme Stars, Malkia Strikers Secure Spots in Africa Games Despite Egypt Defeats
Kenya’s men and women’s volleyball teams secured berths for the Africa Games following their performances at the Africa Zone Five Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
The men’s team secured qualification by defeating Burundi in straight sets, although they lost to hosts Egypt in their final match.
The women’s team, Malkia Strikers, earned their spot despite losing both matches to Egypt, as only the two teams were registered for the qualifiers.
The victories ensure Kenya’s representation at the Africa Games in Ghana. The teams featured all-local players, with expectations of foreign players joining for the Africa Games in March.
