Wanda Diamond League Unveils Lineup of Disciplines for 2024 Season
The 2024 season of the Wanda Diamond League has unveiled a comprehensive overview of the disciplines scheduled for each meeting.
Athletes from around the world will showcase their skills at 15 events spanning four continents in athletics’ premier one-day series.
As outlined in the press release, athletes will accumulate points in their respective disciplines across 14 series meetings from April to September. The most successful athletes will earn qualification for the Wanda Diamond League Final set to take place in Brussels on September 13th-14th.
Commencing on April 20th in Xiamen, the season kicks off with headline events like the men’s 100m, women’s 200m, and the 100/110m hurdles double bill. Each discipline will have the opportunity to feature in a minimum of four and up to eight meetings on the Road to the Final, providing global athletes with ample chances to earn points.
In 2024, two meetings will be relocated due to stadium renovation projects. The Meeting International Mohammed VI moves from Rabat to Marrakech, while the Wanda Diamond League Shanghai shifts to Suzhou.
The 14 series meetings, each condensed into a two-hour TV world program, will host at least 14 Diamond Disciplines. The Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels will stand as the sole meeting to showcase every discipline, with all 32 Diamond League champions crowned over two days.
The release notes that the season calendar and discipline allocations are subject to change. Besides the Diamond disciplines, meetings may incorporate additional events in their programs where athletes won’t earn points on the Road to the Final.
